The illusion of spheres floating in space is created using four patches and rectangles. Three different fabrics of different values and a light background, strip piecing and the Four Patch Square Up tool allow you to make this geometric Abstraction.

This fat quarter friendly pattern features lots of pockets including one for a cell phone. Easy zipper top closure will be explained. The strap can be attached with or without a swivel hook. Great cross-body bag!

Bargello Runner

Dress your table for any occasion, not just valentine day. This strip piecing method is fun and easy to do and the hearts can be omitted or replaced with any motif. Just imagine this in Christmas fabrics with ornaments, Santa’s or even snowmen. Lovely in spring florals with appliqué flowers or watering cans or fall fabrics with pumpkins. Your imagination is the only limitation!

English Paper Piecing - Beginner

In this class you will learn the basics of EPP using a 1” hexagon. I will show you how to construct a basic hexie flower which is the basis of many EPP designs. I will suggest some simple projects for you using the hexie flower or variation of same.

All sewing is done by hand making it not only a very portable activity but a good TV/movie watching project also.

References to on line videos and tutorials as well as a PDF covering all the material discussed will be emailed to the participants after the class.

English Paper Piecing - Advanced 1

This class assumes you have a working knowledge of EPP

This is a technique class and no specific project will be worked on.

Therefore there is no fabric, or specific tools needed for this class

Topics covered include:

  • thread basting hexies and other shapes
  • different stitches for sewing shapes together
  • how to deal with curves
  • sewing various shapes together
  • fussy cutting

Dates for Advanced 1

 October 29 1pm and 7pm

 December 3 1pm and 7pm

Classes will be 45min to 1hr and if time permits we will have a “show and tell” at the end of each session.

This class assumes you have a working knowledge of EPP

This is a technique class and no specific project will be worked on.

  • creating hexie blocks from different shapes
  • different ways of using EPP blocks in a quilt
  • appliquéing EPP blocks
  • quilt as you go hexies
  • borders ,binding and finishing

Hip Hop

This is a wonderful beginner quilt. Each week create two blocks; one big, one little. Learn how to square up blocks, tips about cutting fabric and more. Patterns will be provided.

This quilt by Australian design Jen Kingwell is made with 13 blocks using different building blocks or techniques. The entire quilt, which measures 66 ½” by 67 ½”, is machine pieced. It’s the perfect size for a lap quilt or a wall hanging. Get out your scraps, or if you’ve been sitting on a fabric bundle and was waiting for the perfect quilt, this is it! October Requirements Coming Soon


Every week there will be a different technique or tool taught to make 12½” blocks. These blocks can be used in a table runner, a sampler lap quilt or repeated and with sashing for a queen size quilt. The blocks will be made using a “sew and chop” method, so accurate cutting and use of rulers will be explained.
